About Us:
GiftGenius, the ultimate online gift guide, is the most comprehensive way to find the coolest gift ideas for the people you like, love, and most importantly, want to impress.
We post useful, humorous write-ups of gift ideas, including everything from unique "never would have thought of that" experiences; to over-the-top adventures; to luxurious, unforgettable pieces; to affordable yet meaningful products.
What distinguishes us is that we put a unique editorial twist on a service site. Much like a magazine, our writers report solely on gifts that they deem cool and notable. After our writers do their research, our editorial team narrows down the best of the best and coolest of the cool gifts for each category of person (e.g., The Stay at Home Mom who works out during time-outs or The Hard Working Dad with a frat boy soul). We also offer other entertaining editorial features, such as short Q&A's with celebrities and well-known tastemakers (Trust Me, I'm Famous (bi-weekly); Tastemaker 10 (weekly).
The gift ideas we post on our site must meet a certain criteria. While every item, adventure or experience we post must be cool and notable, that doesn't mean products will make it on our site just because they're cool and notable. We're structured much like an editorial site, but we're ultimately different because we are providing cool gift ideas, not just write-ups of the coolest and newest things.
GiftGenius' definition of a gift is something you may not immediately buy for yourself, but you wish that someone else would. So, for example, the older sister who buys her younger brother personal surfing lessons is satisfying a want he has, or a want he may not have even realized he had until it's fulfilled. What he needs may be a new set of dishes, or a new duvet cover, but those are essentials he can—and most likely will—buy for himself. Chances are, people don't need most of the gifts we suggest, but when it comes to gift giving, there's a difference between a need and a must-have, and we're in the business of linking people up with life's must-haves.
Although GiftGenius narrows down the best of the best and the coolest of the cool gifts out there, users still enjoy the act of "discovering" the right gift for a person. GiftGenius suggests, doesn't tell, but the goal is that all our suggestions are trusted in a way that it's practically impossible to make a wrong choice.
Aside from our editorial content, we also offer users a suite of features that will help you to a) pick the right gifts for others (on time!) and b) allow you to let others know what you want. GiftGenius also recognizes that users may have even better suggestions than we do from time to time, so we encourage you to post your wish lists, and offer us suggestions.
